How Collaboration Opened Doors for a ROTL Prisoner in ConstructionThe collaboration and communication between Falcon Green and Willmott Dixon Interiors were key in supporting an individual on the Release on Temporary License (ROTL) programme, facilitating their transition back into the community, and offering employment opportunities within the construction industry.
The project
Falcon Green and Willmott Dixon Interiors partnered to support an individual currently serving a prison sentence and participating in the ROTL programme. Working closely with HMP Downview, a female prison, this initiative aims to assist prisoners in finding suitable career paths within the construction industry, demonstrating that construction can offer a viable and fulfilling career option once sentences are served. Falcon Green provided an opportunity for an individual on day release, offering valuable support on one of our projects in London as a Labourer. During their time on-site, the individual had the chance to shadow various roles within the supply chain, operations, gaining insights into the diverse opportunities available within the construction industry.
Results
Exceeding all expectations, the individual was recognized as “Employee of the Month” within their first few months on-site. The site team was highly impressed with the candidate work ethic, commitment, and enthusiasm in the role of Labourer. Throughout their time on-site, the individual developed a range of key skills, including time management, organizsation, and communication skills They also had the opportunity to pursue accreditations and engage in further training, which will help them secure a stable career once they complete their sentence. The collaboration between Falcon Green and Willmott Dixon Interiors was key in supporting each other every step of the way, helping candidate transition from prison to work.
